Project Associate
ICT department, Heart of England NHS Trust

Cameron is spending his Year in Industry in the ICT department of the Heart of England NHS Trust where he has assisted with a number of large projects. One of Cameron's proudest achievements has been helping to install wireless networks throughout the Solihull, Good Hope and Heartlands hospitals.

In addition to gaining valuable business experience which he hopes will set him apart after graduation, Cameron believes his year in employment will better prepare him for making the most of his time at University.

“I think my colleagues have really appreciated my help in alleviating their workloads. Feeling like a valued member of staff made me willing to go out of my way to help out. Some things were difficult at first but I loved the challenge!"

“Cameron is eager, enthusiastic and incredibly mature, remarkable considering he had no experience of the world of work prior to this. The projects team is a high pressure environment with strict time constraints and regular deadlines and would present a steep learning curve for any new employee. Cameron has met the challenges admirably and he has been a credit to himself", said Jas Bindarh, ICT Project Manager for the Heart of England NHS Trust. Jas sums up by saying that "the wireless network that Cameron helped install will allow information to be processed much more quickly. As a result the turnaround time for patient information like blood tests, will be vastly reduced, improving patient care".
