Apprenticeships

Gateway presently employs 103 Apprentices who are placed within the NHS across the West Midlands region. We will be recruiting further Apprentices in September 2010. If you would like to register your interest, then please contact us.

There are two types of apprenticeships.

Apprenticeships

If you are on this programme you will take:

  • a National Vocational Qualification at Level 2
  • key skills - usually two or more of Communication, Application of Number,
    Information and Communication Technology, Working with Others, Improving
    Own Learning and Performance, and Problem Solving
  • employee responsibilities and rights (usually covered in induction)
  • and, in some cases, a Technical Certificate. This is a qualification which covers
    the knowledge and understanding of your job
  • in addition, you may have to take part of another NVQ or a special training
    programme, for example, health and safety or hygiene at work.

Advanced Apprenticeships

If you are on this programme, you will take:

  • a National Vocational Qualification at Level 3
  • key skills - usually two or more of Communication, Application of Number,
    Information and Communication Technology, Working with Others, Improving
    Own Learning and Performance, and Problem Solving
  • employee responsibilities and rights (usually covered in induction)
  • and a Technical Certificate. This is a qualification which covers the knowledge
    and understanding of your job
